Into the Sea After a year hiatus, I decided to submit to Threadless again. That may seem odd given that I have my own t-shirt website, I suppose I was just curious how I would fare, maybe I need to earn a high score as an affirmation of my own ability. I created a Pirate design not dissimilar from the one I have for sale here. It did well, apparently not well enough to be printed, sadly. I'm considering reworking it a bit, adding a bit of detail, and selling it here.
And, yes I know, I really am obsessed with slate gray. I've got a problem.

Carrying Boxes I'm not quite sure what I was thinking with this design. My original thought was a design with little 'people' actually working on the design, I then went on a tangent with office workers carrying boxes heading off a cliff. Ultimately I just ended up putting something together quickly and not returning to it.

Dog '82 I thought I'd attempt to design a more masculine version of my popular 'Kitten 1980' design. Darker colors, a dog instead of a kitten, something a bit more 'manly'. And then I thought, what if this is the start of a whole series where I put these freakin hats on cute animals? Maybe a line of cutesy plush toys, with baby animals sporting flowerpot hats. Do I really want to go down that road?
Truth be told, I may print this design at some point. Let me know what you think of it.

Seven A plain shirt with a large number 7, is that it, you ask? Ah but look closer, that seven is in fact made up of many smaller sevens. Clever, eh? This didn't turn out quite how I wanted it, and isn't a particularly remarkable design.

The White Frog V2 Another spin on my White Frog site design. This was meant to be a men's shirt, and as such the design is in stark black on a military green shirt, which I think gives it a nice 'manly' look. This would've been my first shirt with a 'hip' lower corner placement, but I didn't print it as I wasn't sure I wanted another logo shirt. Though I may change my mind, as I think it would look fantastic printed.

King of the Road vs. The Golfer I was bored and added details to my King of the Road tee. The poor bastard golfer caught inside was finally able to squeeze himself out the window, and boy is he pissed.

Camper's Nightmare I don't recall having any nightmares about bear attacks in the many times I've been camping. And recently I can't say I've even been sleeping when camping, as my dog has taken to stalking the insects in the tent. She jumps in the air and clamps her mouth down on the little flying bugs, and usually lands somewhere near my groin region. Despite all this, I put my noggin on random and out popped this t-shirt design.

Bucking Bronco A bull fucking a mechanical bull? Yeah this was a stroke of genius on my part. And don't tell me otherwise.
I intended to illustrate a whole elaborate bar scene for this shirt, but laziness took over, along with the realization that this might be a bit too crude for my site. So here it is.
|
Wavy White Lines I saw lines like this in a math textbook, or website, somewhere. I thought it'd be a cool t-shirt design. I still think it looks kinda neat, but I don't know if I'd where the shirt myself, so it didn't make the cut.

Cleverly Symbollic Anti-Corporate T-Shirt In the past I have submitted shirts to Threadless which is an ongoing t-shirt design contest. Browsing through Threadless submissions, I saw quite a few that were 'statement' t-shirts. Corporate logo parodies, witty comments on consumerism, shirts done by people who intended to make a 'statement' This shirt was an attempt to poke fun at those shirts, it was meant to be an unsubtle, unclever, and unbelievably dumb take on the 'statement' tee. Threadless didn't get the joke, they refused to put it up for voting.

Cold War I thought I was being clever putting the ol' hammer & sickle on a shirt with my 'Cold War' tee. Then I found a site more or less dedicated to hammer & sickle shirts, so I canned the idea.
|
Mushroom Cloud I'd venture to say that I'm not the only one who's been fascinated since childhood with blowing shit up, I think it's just an innate trait found in all males. Or maybe not. At any rate, I thought putting a good ol' exploding mushroom cloud on a shirt was a stroke of genius. Unfortunately, the idea didn't pan out, and I ended up with an unfinished design that might be confused with a sprig of broccoli . And I do love broccoli, mind you, but I don't want to parade that love around on a t-shirt.

Wave of the Future When I was a child, I remember my parent's going out to Sears and buying an exciting and new 'space age' kitchen appliance. It was a piece of cutting edge scientific technology, and as such, was aptly dubbed the 'microwave'. It had settings for everything, a roast, turkey, maybe even a cake. And look where we are now, we can reheat leftovers and cook frozen dinners in no time! I submitted this shirt to Threadless as a tribute to the microwave, and I think the people there just thought I was an idiot.

Calculator Watch When I was a kid, I always had a slight fascination with calculator watches. All of that power, those advanced electronic components, reduced down to a size small enough to wear on your wrist. They must have been assembled by tiny elf laborers slaving over a calculator watch assembly line. But I knew I would never wear one, even at that young age I was style-conscious, and such gadgetry would most definitely clash with the coolness of my Ocean Pacific shirts. With this tee I aimed to design a shirt that would make the calculator watch look hip. Off-centered, placed near the bottom of the shirt- step back, this is a calculator watch with edge. Well, it ended up looking just like a calculator watch, innately geeky, and tilting the image a bit wasn't going to change things.

Rectangle Frog I bet you've always wondered what a frog made out of little rectangles would look like on a t-shirt. I know I did. Didn't turn out exactly as I imagined and I was too lazy to rework it, so here it is.
|
Lick the White Frog I've never licked a frog, but have heard they pack a pretty good buzz. So I used that concept as the 'foundation', the 'passion', that drove this 'piece'. Seriously though, I posted this to Threadless, and they tore it apart.
|
Light Blue White Frog This was my second (or third) Threadless entry. It did OK, but a bunch of people said that it looked like a shirt from the National Geographic store, and that hurt :(
|
3DTV I designed this when I was just beginning to learn Illustrator. At the time I was proud of myself, that I had managed to recreate a cute little digitized version of 'gort' on a t-shirt. Now I could do much better, but I still have a place for this design in my heart (sniff).
|
Robo Square Guy I had a few drinks and then pounded this design out in about 10 minutes. At the time I thought it looked kinda cool. At the time most everything looked kinda cool.
|
Computer Zipper Thing I am big fan of minimalism, and have created probably 30 designs with just squares, circles, lines, and other basic shapes. This is one of those designs.
|
Bad Picnic One day I had this great idea for a design, a picnic site after a bear attack! Genius! At the time it seemed like a great idea, but now it just seems cheesy with the blood splatters and the 'scary' bear. Not really my style, so I never really finished it.
